Our venue is an aesthetically progressive and functionally diverse renovated warehouse space in the heart of Old Strathcona.

It is a black box space that can be adapted to serve almost any small to medium sized theatre or dance production as well as music, film and installation events. The venue has a sprung floor throughout the playing area.

We welcome all enquiries. This page contains a general outline of our current rental rates for non-profits. If you are interested in using Catalyst Theatre please contact our Facility Manager with the following information:

  • Dates requested
  • Whether yours is a non-profit or a for-profit organization
  • Description of planned activity

For rentals of less than one week or rates for organizations that would not be considered non-profit we will provide a quote once your needs have been discussed with our Facility Manager.

WEEKLY RENTALS: 2009-2010 rates

One week: $2,105.50 Includes

  • House Technician for up to 40 hours
  • 25 hours of secondary technical labour for setup and strike
  • 1 Janitorial call for public spaces, washroom green room, and dressing rooms
  • Use of all Catalyst Equipment
  • $75 worth of consumables

Two weeks: $3,810.50 Includes

  • House Technician for up to 40 hours each week
  • 25 hours of secondary technical labour for set up and strike
  • 2 Janitorial call for public spaces, washroom green room, and dressing rooms
  • Use of all Catalyst Equipment
  • $75 worth of consumables

Three weeks: $5,515.50 Includes

  • House Technician for up to 40 hours each week
  • 25 hours of secondary technical labour for set up and strike
  • 3 Janitorial call for public spaces, washroom green room, and dressing rooms
  • Use of all Catalyst Equipment
  • $75 worth of consumables

In Addition

We charge a $1 Facility Enhancement fee on all sold tickets for events in the facility.

$64 will be charged per public performance for a Front of House supervisor on a four hour call.

DAILY RENTALS

For rentals of less than one week we will provide a quote once your needs have been discussed with our Facility Manager.
 

ADDITIONAL CREW HOURS:

  • $17.50 per hour for crew, up to eight hours in a day
  • Overtime hours are billed to the renter when crew have exceeded 8 hours in a day, or 40 hours in a week
  • $28.50 per hour for primary Technician
  • $21 per hour for additional crew

Box office and ushering staff are not included with these rental rates. It is the responsibility of the outside user groups to organize and staff their own box office and usherers. Effective January 1st, 2010 AGLC regulations require that all persons serving alcohol be ASIP certified.  Catalyst’s FOH supervisor can provide concession services but stock, preparation and floats must still be provided by the renter.

Note:  crew calls are a minimum four hours

Crew hours required for the set up, tech, operation and strike your event that exceed the amounts included in the standard rental rates will be charged back to the renter.

Renters are required to carry third party liability insurance.

 

PLEASE NOTE, RE:FRONT OF HOUSE SERVICES:

Box office, front of house management, ushering and concession staff are not included with these rental rates. It is the responsibility of the outside user groups to organize and staff their own box office and front of house.
