BRETTA GERECKE
Bretta is originally from Winnipeg and has resided in Edmonton for the past 14 years. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Interior Design in 1992, and from the University of Alberta with a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Design in 1996. Bretta is the resident designer of Catalyst Theatre, where she has designed over 15 world premieres.
Bretta has also worked extensively at The Citadel Theatre, Edmonton Opera, Canadian Stage, The Edmonton Opera and The Calgary Opera.
Aside from her theatre work, Bretta has designed a summer house on Devil’s Lake, and works as an archaeological illustrator. She feels very lucky to have 13 Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards an Enbridge Award for Best Emerging Artist.

JONATHAN CHRISTENSON
Jonathan received his M.F.A. in Directing from the University of Alberta in 1996, the same year he became Artistic Director of Catalyst Theatre. Under his leadership, the company has created eighteen original productions in the past ten years. Highlights include: The Blue Orphan, The House of Pootsie Plunket, Love + Love, Songs For Sinners, and The Abundance Trilogy. Catalyst’s productions have toured Canada, the U.K., Australia and the United States and Jonathan has been honoured with numerous awards, both at home and abroad, for his work as a director, writer and composer.
Outside of Catalyst Theatre Jonathan has taught for the Department of Drama at the University of Alberta. He has directed productions for Studio Theatre (University of Alberta, Edmonton), The Citadel Theatre’s Teens at the Turn festival (Edmonton), Workshop West’s Springboards New Play Festival (Edmonton) and Keyano College Theatre (Fort McMurray).

Eva Cairns
Eva Cairns has been working on the administrative side of dance and theatre since 1988. Her first eight years were spent in the field of tour management and touring market development for Judith Marcuse Dance Company (Vancouver) and O Vertigo Danse (Montreal). She started working with theatre during three years at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto where she was assigned to special international projects and was the Administrator for Performing Arts. In Edmonton, Eva has been the General Manager of Shadow Theatre, the Edmonton Associate for 2004 Magnetic North Theatre Festival, and worked with several independent artists and theatre companies providing grant writing services and mentorships. She came to Catalyst as Interim General Manager in April 2006 and was seduced, despite herself, into staying.
