Love - at it's most potent, merciless and obsessive. A darkly romantic musical set amid the buttresses and shadows of Notre Dame Cathedral, Hunchback tells the tale of a tormented priest, a beautiful dancer and the deformed bell ringer Quasimodo, swept up in a vortex of lust, fear and the desire to control a destiny that will ultimately destroy them all. A surprising new take on Victor Hugo's famous story from the multi-award-winning creative team at Catalyst Theatre.
Feb 18 to March 10, 2012.

Between the outfits, music, and bold performances, Hunchback is a visceral feast for the senses.
Overall, though, Hunchback exceeds the hype surrounding it. Catalyst takes a powerful, rich story and tells it like it's meant to be told.
Once more the innovative team of former St. Albert director Jonathan Christenson and designer Bretta Gerecke has fashioned a vision that is loaded with striking visual imagery, punchy theatricality and shock-value elegance.
It’s at shows like Hunchback you want to throw back your head and howl: Why doesn’t the entire theatrical world – West End, Broadway, Bollywood, Hollywood – rush to Edmonton to see what’s going on here?
It’s a beautiful, flowing, wondrous show, that stays in the mind for weeks afterwards forming new thoughts and textures in the appreciative mind days after the fact.
This may sound like a broken record … but in Edmonton we continue to see the best theatre on offer in North America.
…a startling combination of physical, visual and aural invention, and counterpoint of presentational pizzazz and dramatic intensity.
It’s a theatrical engine with its own custom-blended high-test fuel...
It’s the richest work yet from this treasure of a company.
