What's it like to play the part of Fleur-de-lis?
I love it! I think it's a nice lift, I guess. It's quite a dark play, but I find that Fleur-de-lis is a young character, so I think I'm able to add an element of, I don't know — maybe a bit of youthful excitement to the play.
Why did you decide to get into acting and theatre?
One of the first shows I saw in Edmonton was a Catalyst show. And I've never seen anything like it and I think the decision to stay in Edmonton and pursue theatre came from that.
You are also the keyboardist in Christian Hansen & the Autistics. How do you manage to be both a musician and an actress?
Well, it's definitely a juggling act sometimes, but they definitely go hand in hand. The show — there is a lot of live musicians on stage. The music and script is very rhythmical, so I think that they compliment each other nicely, and we just kind of book gigs around my theatre schedule (laughs).
How long have you been playing music for?
I've done piano since I was a kid. It's nice that it's become a useful skill to have.
