SHANNON BLANCHET
Shannon is tickled to be a part of Catalyst’s newest production. Originally from Kingston, Ontario, Shannon is an Edmonton based actor, producer and media mercenary. Favourite credits include playing an on-line transvestite in Multi-User Dungeon (Bad Dream Theatre), a rebellious Hutterite-cum-hotel employee (A Rocky Night for His Nibs, Teatro La Quindicina), a cross-dressing ingénue (As You Like It, Studio Theatre) and a wandering amnesiac (Evelyn Strange, Teatro La Quindicina). Recent film/Television Projects include The Pharmacist (to be released Feature Film) The Family Restaurant: The Quons (Food Network), Caution: May Contain Nuts (APTN), and Fear Itself (NBC). Shannon is a graduate of the BFA Acting program at the University of Alberta.

SHELTON ELTER
Sheldon is an actor/writer/director/comedian from Northern Alberta. He is probably best known for his one-man show, Metis Mutt, which has won him 2 Sterling awards, and has toured across Canada and internationally. Other credits include Vimy (Citadel Theatre), The Canada Show (Monster Theatre/MTYP), Undiscovered Country (Undiscovr’d Country Collective), A Prairie Boy’s Winter (Citadel Theatre), Wrecked and Dungeon Master’s Handbook (Azimuth Theatre), Two Gentlemen of Verona (The Musical), The Winter’s Tale, Romeo and Juliet, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Twelfth Night and Merchant of Venice (Free Will Players), and Frostbite Christmas (Stuck in a Snowbank Theatre, Yellowknife). Sheldon starred in the APTN series, Hank Williams’ First Nation, and can be seen in APTN’s new sketch comedy series, CAUTION: May Contain Nuts this fall. Sheldon was also a Top 14 finalist on Canadian Idol in 2006.

BETH GRAHAM
Beth was last seen with Catalyst Theatre as Hortense, the paper butterfly vendor, in The Blue Orphan. Also for Catalyst: twelve and Fusion: Let There Be Light. Other theatre credits include: A Christmas Carol and Penelope vs. The Aliens (Citadel Theatre), Summer of My Amazing Luck (Theatre Network, Kelowna Sunshine Theatre, MTC Warehouse) and The Drowning Girls (Alberta Theatre Projects playRites Festival 2008). Beth is a graduate of the BFA acting program at the University of Alberta. She is also the co-writer of several award-winning plays including: The Drowning Girls, Comrades, The Last Train and Mules.

RYAN PARKER
Ryan is thrilled to be making his Catalyst Theatre debut with Nevermore. Selected credits include; Mesa (Globe Theatre), East of My Usual Brain (Teatro La Quindicina), Poptart (Pony Productions), Gypsy (The Mayfield Theatre), Hamlet and Taming of the Shrew (Free Will Players) and What the Butler Saw (Studio Theatre). Ryan is a co-creator/member of the ukulele cover band The Be Arthurs, and the sketch comedy troupe Blacklisted. This summer Ryan will be filming the second season of the sketch comedy series Caution: May Contain Nuts. Along with being an actor in “Nuts”, Ryan is also one of the main writers. In the fall he will be back with his friends at Teatro, in a new musical. Ryan has his BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta and is also a graduate of Grant MacEwan’s Theatre Arts Program.

GARETT ROSS
Garett Ross is a graduate of the Grant MacEwan Theatre Arts Program and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from the University of Alberta. Some of the shows he’s worked on include: Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Penelope vs. The Aliens (The Citadel Theatre), That Darn Plot, Beginning of August (Shadow Theatre) Uncle Van, Old Curiosity Shop, Joseph Andrews, Sex-tete (TheatRepublic/ Poorman’s classic Co-op), The Wizard of Oz and The Imaginary Invalid (Mayfield Dinner Theatre), The Raven and The Writing Desk, All Expenses Paid (Acme Theatre), Ecstasy (Raven Productions), You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Short Tree and The Bird Who Could Not Sing (FTA), Wonderful Town, Midsummer’s Night Dream (Leave It To Jane Theatre), Falsettos, Passion (Epiphany Theatre) and Snow White (AOTA). Garett has been nominated for Sterling Awards for his work on That Darn Plot (Shadow Theatre), The Old Curiosity Shop (Poor Man’s Classic Co-op), The Raven and the Writing Desk (Acme Theatre) and White Mice (OpenEyes and Ears Theatre).

VANESSA SABOURIN
Vanessa Sabourin is an Edmonton-based performer, producer, and collaborator. Selected credits include Drowning Girls (Alberta Theatre Projects and Bent Out of Shape); Midsummer Nights Dream, Richard III, and Macbeth (River City Shakespeare Festival), The Sound of Music, Grease, and Christmas Carol (The Citadel); Between Yourself and Me (Shadow Theatre); and The Spit Fire Grill (Leave It to Jane). She is a Grant MacEwan Theatre Arts graduate, and also studied at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and the Centre for Performance Research. Vanessa is a co-founder of The Maggie Tree and recently directed their production of A Life in the Day by Beth Graham.

SCOTT SHPELEY
Nevermore is Scott’s debut performance with Catalyst Theatre. He was born in Beaumont, Alberta and has a BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta. He was last seen dancing at Chez Pierre, Edmonton’s first strip club, in the basement, in Kristine Nutting’s PIG. Studio Theatre credits include Twelfth Night, What the Butler Saw and Romeo and Juliet. He was also in Dungeon Master’s Handbook with Azimuth Theatre, Taming of the Shrew and Hamlet with River City Shakespeare Festival and Cuckoos in the 2007 Edmonton Fringe. Scott is the bassist for the electro-dance-rock band Christian Hansen and the Autistics.

CANDICE CHARNEY
Candice is excited to be back with Nevermore after working on it earlier this season. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a BFA in Stage Management in 2005 and her most recent credits include Stage Managing Frankenstein in January and February with Catalyst, rehearsal Assistant Stage Manager on A Christmas Carol with the Citadel Theatre, and Assistant Stage Managing the last leg of Nevermore in Fort McMurray. Lots of love to her girlfriend, friends and family.

JONATHAN CHRISTENSON
As artistic director of Catalyst Theatre, Jonathan has directed, written, composed and/or performed in fifteen original productions. Among these, Nevermore, Frankenstein, The Blue Orphan, The House of Pootsie Plunket, Carmen Angel and Elephant Wake have toured across England, Scotland, Wales, Australia, the United States and Canada. He brought more than fifty Edmonton-based artists together for the interdisciplinary performance events JAM, Twelve and Fusion: Let There Be Light (for which he received a special Sterling Award for Outstanding Theatrical Event); he co-created two installation works (Paper Flight Cocoon Storm & Love + Love); and he co-founded and curated Catalyst’s international performance series that presented the work of cutting edge theatre companies from Russia, Ireland, England and South Africa to Edmonton audiences. In addition to his work at Catalyst, Jonathan has directed, composed and written for other Edmonton companies including The Citadel Theatre, Kill Your Television and Workshop West Theatre, as well as Fort McMurray’s Keyano Theatre. Jonathan teaches in the M.F.A. (Directing), B.F.A. (Acting) and B.A. (Creation) Programs at the University of Alberta’s Department of Drama, where he completed a Master of Fine Arts (Directing) in 1996.

BRETTA GEREKE
Bretta is originally from Winnipeg and has resided in Edmonton for the past 14 years. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Interior Design and from the University of Alberta with a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Design. Bretta is the resident designer of Catalyst Theatre, where she has designed over 15 world premieres. She has also worked extensively at The Citadel Theatre, Canadian Stage, The Edmonton Opera and The Calgary Opera. Other work in Edmonton includes the River City Shakespeare Festival, Theatre Network, Workshop West Theatre, Northern Light Theatre and l’Unithéâtre. Aside from her theatre work, Bretta has designed a summer house on Devil’s Lake, and works as an archaeological illustrator. She feels very lucky to have been honoured with several Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Awards, a Global Woman of Vision Award (2008), an Enbridge Award for Best Emerging Artist and to have been shortlisted for the Siminovitch Prize. She would like to thank Daniela, Amy and Sheena for their creative genius and for embracing fearlessness in the face of seeming impossibility.

LAURA KREWSKI
Laura is thrilled to be working with Catalyst Theatre on Nevermore. Recent choreographic credits include: Frankenstein, (Catalyst Theatre), The Forbidden Phoenix (Citadel Theatre and LKTYP), Rich (MTYP), HMS Pinafore (Edmonton Opera), With a Twist (Lunchbox Theatre), Two Gentleman of Verona (River City Shakespeare Festival), Footloose (The Mayfield), and Forever Plaid (Globe Theatre). She also choreographed FreeFall, and Jazz Playground for her contemporary jazz company FreeFall Dance. Laura is an instructor and choreographer for Orchesis Dance Group at the University of Alberta, teaches extensively at various workshops and summer schools, and adjudicates dance across Canada.

WADE STAPLES
Wade is excited to once again be a part of the creative team on another amazing production by world renowned Catalyst Theatre. Past sound design credits with Catalyst Theatre include: Frankenstein, The Blue Orphan, The Key to Violet’s Apartment, and Carmen Angel. Wade holds Music Performance, Recording Arts and Theatre Production diplomas from Grant MacEwan College. For the past fifteen years Wade has been an instructor for the Theatre Production program at Grant MacEwan College. In addition, Wade operates his own production company and works as a freelance sound and multimedia designer, sound consultant, production manager, and sound engineer. Wade works extensively in the local theatre scene and also designs at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.

SHEENA HAUG
Sheena was born in Regina, where she volunteered for community theatres from a young age. Sheena has since graduated from the Red Deer College Costume Cutting & Construction program and most recently received her BFA in Theatre Design from the University of Alberta. Recent theatre experience includes River City Shakespeare Festival’s Richard III and As You Like It as Assistant to the Costume Designer; Props Apprentice for Studio Theatre’s The Elephant Man; Costume Design for Killer Joe at the U of A Media Room; and Set and Lighting Design for The Illusion, also at the U of A Media Room. Sheena is thrilled to be working with the Catalyst team and inhabiting the world of Nevermore.

LOUISE CASEMORE
Having seen the world premiere of the Catalyst production Frankenstein while attending Fort McMurray’s Keyano College, Louise is more than thrilled to be a part of the imaginative new spectacle which is Nevermore. Louise is an Edmonton-based director, performer, and producer, as well as the creator and Artistic Director of Defiance Theatre, and the newly appointed Associate Artistic Producer of Azimuth Theatre. She would like to thank Jonathan Christenson and the entire Nevermore team for welcoming her into this process and allowing her the amazing experience to learn from truly the best.

JOHN RAYMOND
John has stage managed Frankenstein (2006-2008), Blue Orphan (2005) and Sticky Shoes (2005) for Catalyst. He is a faculty member of the Department of Drama at the UofA and was Director of Production at the Citadel Theatre from 1998-2004. Other selected stage management credits include Shakespeare’s Will and The Mystery of Irma Vep at the Citadel, My Fair Lady at Alberta Theatre Projects, A Delicate Balance at Canadian Stage, Fire for Theatre Calgary, The Mother of all the Behans, My Children! My Africa! and Balconville for the Centaur Theatre and Sticks and Stones, The St. Nicholas Hotel, Wm. Donnelly Prop. and The Sun Raiser for the Banff Centre. Last fall he stage managed Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? for Studio Theatre.

JIM BOB BOUDREAU
Jim Bob is a freelance Production Manager/Technical Director. A few of his more notable contracts include - Technical Director for the Alberta Centennial Initiative’s 2005 Royal Visit, Technical Director for the ceremonies division of the Edmonton 2001 World Championships and Production Manager for the Edmonton Fringe Festival. Prior to starting his freelance activities he worked for companies such as, The Stratford Festival; The Banff Centre; The Manitoba Theatre Centre; The Vancouver Playhouse and The Canadian Stage Company. He also teaches a course on Technical Direction at Grant MacEwan College.

BETTY MOULTON
Betty Moulton has taught voice, speech, text and worked as a coach for over 25 years in U.S. and Canadian professional actor training programs. She is now a professor teaching voice in the BFA Acting program at the University of Alberta. She also devised and now heads the new MFA program in Theatre Voice Pedagogy there, training new theatre voice specialists.
Professional theatre coaching credits include ten seasons as company voice, speech and text coach for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival in Boulder (37 productions) and Pride and Prejudice for The Citadel/Banff professional actors training program (summer 2008). Master classes and workshops for theatre companies and acting studios include Shakespeare in the Red in Winnipeg, Freehold Studio Lab in Seattle, and River City Shakespeare Festival in Edmonton.

DANIELA MASELLIS
Daniela is a 2007 B.F.A. grad of U of A’s Theatre Design program. She has always called Edmonton home, but since graduating has spent time abroad in Italy to study and work at Milan’s La Scala Opera house. Her past Edmonton designs include Something Red and Cuckoos (Sterling award) both for the 2007 Fringe Festival, also Coffee Dad, Chicken Mom and The Fabulous Buddha Boi at the 2008 Fringe. More recent designs include production design for Maggie Tree’s A Life in the Day, set design for Defiance Theatre’s Half a League also she was one half of the decor-duo for the Annual Fringe Fundraiser Gala this past March. Daniela hopes you delight in the twisted nightmarish creations as much as she enjoyed being a part of the team that brought them to life.
